This is just a quick post. Anne and I got out the other evening for quick walk around downtown Port Arthur. I wanted to keep testing out the new (yet old) Canon 1DX II. As I continue to use it more and more, I’m realizing how much of a capable camera it is. Not that that was ever in question. Strangely enough, I find myself shooting vertically a lot more. Which is strange because I do have battery grips for all my other cameras.
I also did a few tests with the tracking capabilities and focusing. I got Anne to run towards me and I snapped off about 25 shots in a row. Every single one was in focus. Suffice it to say, I’m excited for the upcoming event and wedding season. I’ll even have more confidence in shooting hyper kids during family sessions.
As for image quality. I love it. Although, it’s right par with my other Canons. I love how the files are consistent across the board, no matter which camera I use. Working with 20 megapixel file is a joy though. I would have no problem if all my cameras were that resolution. Then again, I still have a Canon 5D Classic that I use for some stuff. I believe that camera is just under 13 megapixels.
That’s all I had to see at the moment. I have an even this weekend with a lot of fast moving subjects in an extremely dark setting, so it will be a great test of this camera, alongside my Canon R. Stay tuned for highlights from that even in the next few days.
