It’s cold here in Thunder Bay now, especially in the mornings. I’m still trying to get out first thing in the mornings for my photo walk. I do this for a couple reasons. It’s a great, fun way to get some exercise to start the day and also, I get to take photos which I absolutely love. Plus, the lighting this time of year in the morning is actually quite nice. It was a sunny morning today which isn’t always ideal, but luckily the light was still fairly soft. It also forced me to work with shadows.
I’ve been using my Ricoh GRII a lot lately, and I plan on always having it on me from now on. I used to carry it with me a lot more but for some reason I got out of the habit. I’ve said a lot of good things about this little beast of a camera in the past so I won’t repeat myself. But if you are looking for a small, discreet, yet powerful camera that produces wonderful photos, the Ricoh should be on the top of your list. Plus, with the version 3 out now of this camera, you could probably save a little bit on the older model.
For my walk I went down to Fort William, which is the south side of Thunder Bay. I made sure to wander around some neighbourhoods I hadn’t photographed in a while as well as back alleys. I really enjoy walking down back alleys. I ended my walk around the parkade by the mall. I find you get some really nice shadows peaking in during the morning hours.
That’s all I have to say. For those interested, I processed all the RAW files in Lightroom.
