I’ve been very lucky to be able to get out and a lot of personal photos the past month. I know the weather is going to turn soon so I’m getting in as many walks as I can. Instead of going to another part of town I stuck in the area this time around, downtown Port Arthur. I have photographed this part of Thunder Bay many times over. I admit, sometimes it’s hard to find the motivation to take photos in this area but I challenged myself to do so.
I swear, if I did live somewhere like Toronto, photographing the city would last me a life time. I just don’t know if I would ever want to live in such a busy city again. Thankfully, we are going for a visit to Toronto at the end of December, so I’ll be sure to get my busy city photo fix in then. Plus, if my Fujifilm X10 comes in by then, that is the only camera I will be bringing. Stay tuned for that!
One of my go to spots downtown is the parkade. I like being able to get up high and look over the city. Plus, when you look down, you can get some nice candid street photography of people, albeit from a different angle. The Canon 5D performed great as usual. Then again, I don’t exactly push it to the limits on my walk. For a 13 year old camera though, the autofocus is spot on and fast. If I didn’t do video, I would seriously think about selling my pro Canon’s off and just using two Canon 5D’s. No joke.
I also walked around the downtown core and captured whatever piqued my interest. I of course stopped in for a coffee at St. Paul Roastery. I must say, they still make my favourite cappuccino and espresso in the city. A few other coffee shops come close though.
