I enjoy going to the gym but even for someone like me, I do find it hard sometimes to stay an extra 30 minutes and do cardio. So, I packed my little Ricoh GRII in my gym bag and went for a walk outside afterwards instead. By the time I finished my workout it was around 8:00pm. Seeing as how the sun sets at around 9:30pm I knew I had a bit of time to get some golden hour photos. My plan was to walk to the Marina and then get my son to pick me up with the car. That way I could just focus on taking photos and not worrying about leaving enough time to walk back.

It was an overcast day and somewhat warm out, so I decided to grab my Nikon D750 and 35mm lens and venture over to Hillcrest Park. Admittedly, it's hard sometimes to find new things to photograph, especially when I tend to walk in the same areas. So, what I try to do, is go down a different back alley, or walk from a different direction. Often times, just looking behind you or walking the opposite direction can give you a completely fresh perspective.

This is just a quick post, as I wanted to share a few photos from one of my recent walks through County Fair. The trail that goes under the highway is actually a really nice one, and there are a ton of photo opportunities if you look around a bit. The most obvious one being the underpass by the highway. I still can't believe I haven't done a portrait session there yet, but perhaps I will have to sometime soon, once the weather gets nicer.

Every once in a while, we steal Willow from my parents, and she stays over for a few days. I love it when she visits because it forces me to go for a walk. This also means that I have to take my camera with me. This time around, I brought along my X-Pro2 paired with the usual 35mm 1.4. As I got the leash out, and latched the camera around my wrist, Willow, somewhat patiently, looked at me eagerly as if to say I wasn't moving fast enough. Then she started howling and growling so I know I was making her wait longer than she wanted. So, off we went.

Earlier in the week I was able to able to walk around on my short lunch break during work. Knowing I was going to have a break, I made sure to bring my Fuji XT-1 and 35mm 1.4. It's a super small, yet powerful combo. So, I wolfed down my lunch so I had more time to actually spend outside taking photos. I decided to just stay in the area and walk the back alley and streets like I usually do. For some reason, I always find more interesting things in the back lanes.

This is going to be a short post, but I did want to take a moment to share some more photos from this past weekend. Just like in my previous post, I took our dog Willow for a walk, just as the sun was setting. So there was some really good soft lighting coming into play.

The weather warmed up just a little bit this past weekend so I was able to get out and take some photos without losing feeling in my fingers. Plus, we brought Willow over for the weekend so I had another excuse to get out and walk.
