Luckily, winter hasn’t quite hit us yet here in Thunder Bay. Surprisingly, there are still colours around too, especially in the trees. As I mentioned in my post from yesterday, I have been using my Sony A6300 a bit more these days for my walk around stuff. I once again walked around the University, seeing as how I just live down the street from it, and it didn’t require me to drive anywhere. As always, I had no preplanned routes or idea of what I wanted to shoot. I just knew that I wanted to capture whatever caught my eye.
A lot of my photography is about isolation. I tend to either isolate objects through depth of field or negative space. I also tend to use shadows or even colours to create interesting compositions. Then again, that’s what photography is all about. My job, just like my other profession, graphic design, is to show the view where they should be looking.
It was a somewhat cloudy day so I had some overcast skies here and there but also a lot of midday sun, which isn’t my favourite. It just meant that I had to work with shadows once again which I’m always willing to do if I need to. It’s just not my favourite. I’m a big fan of soft diffused light.
My day ended at the tree farm for a portrait session, so I took a few photos there before and after the session. Below are my favourite photos from the day. I narrowed it down to about 40 photos from approximately 120 or so I took.
