It had been a while since I got the chance to just walk around aimlessly and take photos on the street. A few days ago I did exactly that. One of my favourite areas in town is Simpson Street so I parked on a side street and prepared to explore. Of course, I never dress warm enough, so it made the walk a bit more rushed then I would have liked. In hindsight, I should have grabbed those gloves from the back seat.
In any case, I had my trusty Nikon D750 and the $200 nifty 50 that I have owned for 9 years now. It's still going strong. That focal length is still one of my favourites for everyday shooting. I think it produces beautiful bokeh and it still lets be get in pretty close to objects, which I love to do.
My D750 has seen better days as it is still missing the setting dial from a drop earlier in the year. So it almost always switches on its own and I constantly have to look down at the camera. I guess I could just tape it to manual but I always forget.
I even managed to do a few in camera double exposures which are always fun. By then I couldn't really feel my hands though so my patience was at a minimum. Oh how I already miss summer. On that note, it ended up being a snowstorm the next day so I will be posting those photos tomorrow.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love the photos that come out of this camera. I usually try and nail the exposure in camera but when I don't, there is so much leeway with the shadows and highlights. All the photos below are processed as I always do in Lightroom, and that's it.
Behold my creations!
